From sapphire to smithsonite, Diana Widman’s jewelry celebrates the concept of “mixed company” by combining gems not normally seen together. Pieces blend chrysoprase and sapphire; boulder opal, tsavorite and spessartite; melanite and champagne diamonds-- the gems’ beauty intensifies when used as a palette. The finished product sparks curiosity and intrigue. Conversation follows, and the buyer develops a new appreciation for the colorful bounty of the gem world while owning something to talk about.

Diana’s style uses clean geometrics and fluid, open forms that convey a sense of motion and whimsy. Her Tahitian and South Sea pearl collection features 8mm to 17mm, natural color pearls dressed in diamonds and multi-colored sapphires. They swing and roll in simple, wearable motifs.

“Elegance for Every Day” drives the direction of all of Diana’s work. These pieces are meant to be worn and enjoyed and look as good on a tee shirt as on a black, evening dress. These pieces are intended to become heirlooms, thus the generous use of materials with great attention to detail.

Diana has completed the Colored Stone graduate portion of the Graduate Gemologist program at GIA. In addition, she is becoming a metalsmith and developing a new line of fabricated pieces.

Diana’s work has been shown in Professional Jeweler and Jewelers Circular Keystone Open to Buy. Her work was featured on the cover of the 2006 catalog of the Designer Jewelry Showcase.
